Poetry capable of breaking barriers between peoples, cultures - Kuwait poet

KUWAIT, July 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait poet Mohammad An-Nabhan said Tuesday poetry was capable of breaking barriers between different peoples and cultures, and created exceptional link between poet and audience. An-Nabhan, speaking to KUNA on the occasion of his participation in the Romania International Festival "Curtea de Arges Poetry Nights," said this festival was a great opportunity to get acquainted with different cultures and poets from around the world. "It is an opportunity to establish dialogue and celebrate poetry specially that you will be facing a crowd that does not know your language and does not speak it even, so language of poetry is the sole capable of breaking all barriers," he said. An-Nabhan said the participation itself would not mean anything related to poetry, but would enable the poet to interact and explore secrets of poetry. The festival, which was set up in 1997, has a unique character within the central European countries. The Romania International Festival "Curtea de Arges Poetry Nights" belongs to the annual programs of the Foundation and Cultural Organization International Academy Orient-Occident. The International Festival is conceived as an encomium to the world poetry nowadays, as a ceaseless poetical performance: such as the Romanian traditional music, art exhibition and book releases, Romanian folk dances, visits to the fortresses and castles of Vlad Tepes (Dracula), trips to the Carpathian Mountains and many more surprising activities. The Ojbectives of the festival is to promote mutual respect between peoples and cultures, promoting peace, non-violence, cultural, linguistic, ethnical, religious and age tolerance at national, regional and internatinal levels. It also aims at getting men of letters from all cultural meridians together, stimulating the Romanian contemporary creation, and integration of Romanian cultural values in the international circuit.
